uAlign Administrators: How should a CSV file used for bulk user import and assignment be formatted?

Environment

  • Product: ANCILE uAlign

Answer

A uAlign administrator can invite multiple new users in bulk and assign multiple users to a group in bulk using a comma-separated value (CSV) file. The user's email address is the only required information.

The preferred construction of the email addresses in the CSV file is one of the following:

- On a single line, with each email address separated by a comma:
quick@email.com,brown@email.com,fox@email.com
or...

- On multiple lines, one per each email address:
quick@email.com
brown@email.com
fox@email.com

If uAlign displays the message, "The CSV file could not be read.", please ensure that the CSV file uses UTF-8 encoding, and that all email addresses in the CSV file are valid. A valid email address may consist of any combination of:

  • latin alphabetic characters A-Z or a-z
  • digits 0-9
  • any of the special characters:  ! # $ % & ' * + - / = ? ^ _ ` . { | } ~
  • a period (".") may also appear, but may not be used to start or end the local part of the email (i.e. name.@email.com or .name@email.com), nor may two or more consecutive periods appear (i.e. first..last@email.com)
